About
Welcome to Inventing a Planet
This blog is driven by a primary vision: to be as mentally provocative as possible. There are (and will always be) a plethora of writing on the Internet which far surpass the content you will find on this humble site, but my practical objective is to create meaningful, thoughtful content and present it clearly, thoroughly and accessibly.
If I am successful in this venture, this blog will be a place of quality, idea-provoking dialogue.
The subtitle of this blog (A Memetic Petri Dish for Creative Life on Earth) is to connote an obvious reality: all ideas are unfinished. This is the not the blog of an expert, but of an explorer. The point is not merely what has been concluded, for conclusions mean little until they are married to the question of what remains to be discovered. And so, like a petri dish, the blog serves as a bubbling cauldron of human ideas — raw, convoluted, inherited and derived — that intersect, mix, and conflict, like the passing of generations, to conceive new perspectives about truth, love, death and everything in between.
In summation, Inventing a Planet is little more than a personal commitment lifelong learning; a feeble search for some glimpses of synoptic perspective in a polarizing world; a never-ending experiment in the art of conceptual synthesis; and an invitation to all who consider themselves “autodidacts at heart” to come and discuss the journey together along on the way.
Thank you for subscribing, reading, sharing your ideas, and for making Inventing a Planet something it could never be without you… a conversation. After all, at the end of the day, as long as we are still learning and talking together, hope abounds. This brings up my final thought: if you are a regular reader, please me know where you blog or share your reflections. I covet the opportunity to interact with new thinkers and intersect with their thoughts. Just post a comment in the section below with the URL of your blog. Maybe we’ll learn something from each other.
Peace,
James Shelley

I see your blog got a makeover lately James. I like.
And at least for me, you’re accomplishing your aim of being mentally provocative.
thanks
